  34. 11/14/92 - Released as Version 1.1
  35.     Note:  This is mostly a bug release.  Sorry about this, as I
  36.     had made some enhancements the day before I released
  37.     Version 1.00, and I did not bug-test them thoroughly.
  38.     And this is the result!
  39.     Bugs Fixed:
  40.     - Colors were not being reset to the same as they where before
  41.       SM was run.  Fixed.
  42.     - Occassionally, some programs would not run, after returning
  43.       from a menu that uses swapping to a menu that uses batch.
  44.     - When ALT-X or F10 was pressed from a sub-menu, Smart Menu was
  45.       not exiting properly.  Fixed.
  46.     - When saving a CFG file under a new name, SM did not add the
  47.       .CFG extension to the name.  Fixed.
  48.     Enhancements/Additions:
  49.     - Added an option to the command to start SM with a different
  50.       configuration file than the default file, "SM.CFG".
  51.       This is done by naming the file on the command line.
  52.       For example, "SM GAMES.CFG" would start SM with the file
  53.       "GAMES.CFG".
  54.     - Now displays the name of the configuration file for the
  55.       current menu on the main configuration screen.

  57. 12/10/92 - Released as Version 1.2
  58.     Bugs Fixed:
  59.     - Title Line of new sub-menus wasn't being added when you edit
  60.       them for the first time.
  61.     - Text Input Lines were not being updated properly in the Entry
  62.       Information Screens.
  63.     Enhancements/Additions:
  64.     - Added an option to not display the clock on the main screen.
  65.       A few people did not like that clock there, so I added this
  66.       option
  67.     - Enhanced the CFG Files.  This is why SMUpdate is included.
  68.       In the new type of file, they can be used as either Main Menu
  69.       files or Sub-Menu Files with no problems.
  70.       Also made the CFG files so that SM could tell what version they
  71.       were made with and still be able to use them, even if they were
  72.       from an older version.  (That's the main reason for SMUpdate)
  73.     - Added an option for SM to keep a LOG file of what users do in
  74.       Smart Menu.  This is a file in SM's home directory, called
  75.       SM.LOG (See SM.DOC for more info)
  76.     - Included new program, called SMUpdate.Exe.  This will update
  77.       CFG files from Versions 1.0 and 1.1 to 1.2.
  78.       Usage is "SMUPDATE <file name>", where <file name> is the CFG
  79.       file you want to update.  Wildcards may be used.
  80.       Sorry for this incovenience, but it will not happen in future
  81.       versions, due to the Enhanced CFG Files.

  84.     Bugs Fixed:
  85.     - After creating a new menu, SM would exit to DOS rather than go
  86.       to the new menu.
  87.     - The clock, during midnight, would show 0:01a.m.
  88.     - The screen was not being redrawn after returning from a DOS
  89.       Shell.
  90.     - The Passwords Backspace Option was not working properly.
  91.     - The Passwords Visibility Option did not work.
  92.     - Fixed problem with the clock sometimes not appearing.
  93.     - Fixed a problem with some files not running properly in
  94.       Batch Mode.
  95.     - Fixed a problem with non-existent CFG Files.
  96.     - Fixed a problem with pushing ESCape from the Color Selection
  97.       Screen.
  98.     Enhancements/Additions:
  99.     - Added hot-keys to the Configuration menus.
  100.     - Added a Change to root option to return to the root directory
  101.       after running a program.
  102.     - Added full, on-line help, available anywhere in the program, by
  103.       pressing the F1 key.  This is what the SM.HLP file is for.
  104.       The help option was removed from the Utility Menu.
  105.     - Added a Help Index, available through the Shift-F1 key.
  106.     - A new encryption scheme is used in this version, but the
  107.       conversion is automatic and only happens the first time you
  108.       run the new version.
  109.     - Added more clock display options.  You can now choose to show
  110.       the clock with or without seconds.
  111.     - Added more keys in the Color Selection Screen: PgUp takes you
  112.       to the top, PgDn to the bottom, and the mouse cursor now moves
  113.       diagonally.
  114.     - Added the ability to call the screen saver on demand by pressing
  115.       either the F8 or the Alt-A Key.
  116.     - Added a Screen Saver Password to lock up your system while you
  117.       are away from it.
  118.     - Changed the Configuration so that when you push ESCape it asks
  119.       you if you want to save the CFG File.
  120.     - Changed so that if you specify a CFG file on the command line,
  121.       you do not need to type the '.CFG'.
  122.     - Changed so that selecting All for a Swap Destination swaps to
  123.       XMS, EMS, and DISK, in that order, rather than EMS, XMS, DISK.
  124.     Cosmetic Changes:
  125.     - Changed the 'Credit Screen' to 'About SM'.
  126.     - Changed 'Save' to 'Save File'.
  127.     - Changed 'Save As' to 'Save File As'.
  128.     - Added shadows in the menus and various places to improve the
  129.       appearance.

  131. 11/30/93 - Released as Version 2.0a
  132.     Bugs Fixed:
  133.     - Fixed problem with upgrades from previous versions.  Users would
  134.       receive 'File is not locked' error messages.

  137.     Bugs Fixed:
  138.     - None.
  139.     Enhancements/Additions:
  140.     - Added an install program to facilitate setting Smart Menu up on
  141.       your computer.
  142.     - Added the ability to restore the screen upon exitting.  In swap mode,
  143.       the screen will be restored to what it was when Smart Menu was first
  144.       started.  In batch mode, it will show whatever screen the last program
  145.       that you ran left.
  146.     - Added Ctrl-Left and Ctrl-Right keys to all input boxes, except for
  147.       passwords.  Ctrl-Left will now take you to the next word to the left,
  148.       and Ctrl-Right takes you to the next word to the right.
  149.     - Added an optional description for each entry that is displayed at
  150.       the bottom of the main screen when the highlight bar is on the entry.
  151.     - Added an optional message to be displayed when a program is run.
  152.       The user has to press a key to continue.  This can be useful to prompt
  153.       the user to insert a CD or floppy disk containing the program, or to
  154.       remind the user of the cheat codes for a game.
  155.     - Totally overhauled the entry editting system, which eliminated the need
  156.       for the "Pick 'N' Edit" option.  The following changes have been made to
  157.       the entry information screen:
  158.       - Added current entry number and total entries to the top line.
  159.       - PgDown & PgUp will go to the next and previous entries, respectively.
  160.       - Ctrl-PgDown goes to the last entry.
  161.       - Ctrl-PgUp goes to the first entry.
  162.       - Ctrl-I inserts a blank entry after the current one.
  163.       - Ctrl-D deletes the current entry.
  164.       - Ctrl-G selects an entry to go to from a list.
  165.       - Ctrl-A Adds a blank entry to the list.
  166.       - Ctrl-M brings up a menu of all these options.
  167.       - Ctrl-L now deletes the current line
  168.       The entry information window has been changed to show "buttons" for each
  169.       option to remind you of what key to push.  These "buttons" will be used
  170.       by the mouse in version 3.0, due out late this summer.
  171.     - Added a long-awaited Move Entries option.  This allows you to put the
  172.       entries in whatever order you want them.
  173.     - Revised and improved the help contents to reflect the latest changes.
  174.     Cosmetic Changes:
  175.     - Added down and up arrows in the main screen to let the user know if
  176.       there are more programs available.
